About Us

Vision:

The IPS Officers’ Mess at Kolkata has been envisioned not only as a temporary residence for the officers, but also as a repository of its traditions. It aims at promoting pride for the service & the esprit de corps.

Mission:

  • Creating a home away from home for the IPS fraternity.
  • Enrich this institution to make it into a real reflection of the lofty idols for which the Indian Police Service stands.
  • Uphold and up keep the traditions of the service well as the contemporary.

Objectives:

  • To provide right platform and environment to social interactions of IPS officers.
  • To provide a comfortable stay for officers coming from outside.
  • To encourage interactions among the fraternity across different batches of IPS officers.
  • To creating a conducive environment for the social interactions of families of IPS officers.
  • Integrating IPS officers working in different flanks into a unified whole.

History:

The IPS Officers’ Mess West Bengal was inaugurated on 09.10.1996 at the present address of 7 Diamond Harbour Road, Kolkata 700 027.

At its inception, it was blessed by the then DG & IGP West Bengal, Shri. R. K. Nigam, IPS and Commissioner of Police, Calcutta, Shri. T. K. Talukdar, IPS. The first President of the IPS Mess West Bengal was Shri. R. K. Johri, IPS and the first Secretary was the then SP, South 24-Parganas, Shri. B. D. Sharma, IPS.

Since then, it has become a home for the Indian Police Service in West Bengal Cadre and repository of its rich traditions.
